A rural Tonganoxie man was severely burned Tuesday morning in an explosion and fire inside his barn. According to witnesses, 39-year-old Elmer William Lee apparently was welding a gasoline tank onto a truck when the explosion occurred.

Election 2004 promises to be tight race

The county clerk's office believes that polling sites will be very busy. Many advance voters have already turned in their ballots. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. If voters are in line when the polls close, they will be allowed to vote, but doors will be closed.
