The Mom's Club of Lawrence has rallied around Emily Venters, a young girl with cancer. The club gave the Venters family emotional support when Emily was dianosed two years ago. Smoking ban brings clean-up problems

Cigarette butts have become more common downtown. Smokers have tossed the butts on the sidewalk, in the street, or even in the planters. Some residents have suggested that the city should provide ashtrays outside local businesses.
