Testimony begins in murder case

Monday, December 6, 2004

Testimony is underway today in the case of a Kansas State University professor charged with first-degree murder in the death of his ex-wife.

The preliminary hearing for Tom Murray started just after 9 a.m. today in Douglas County District Court.

Murray is accused of stabbing 40-year -old Carmin Ross more than a dozen times inside her Lakeview home in November 2003.

During opening statements, prosecutors said there are holes in Murray's alibi and that he had fresh injuries on his hands when he was questioned by police in the days following his ex-wife's murder.

Ross's fiance was the first witness to testify -- he was the one who alerted authorities when he wasn't able to reach her by phone.
