Jesse Fray joined the 6News/Lawrence Journal-World team in April 2008. He is a city reporter and anchors 6News at 6.

Jesse came to Lawrence from KTKA-TV, our sister station and the ABC affiliate in Topeka.

While there, Jesse was awarded first place by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters for his in-depth investigation into the safety of Topeka Public Schools.

Jesse is a lifelong Kansan. He grew up in Wichita, where he began his news career as an assignment editor at KAKE-TV, the ABC affiliate.

While in Wichita, Jesse was involved with coverage of the reemergence, arrest and trials of the BTK murders. Jesse was covering the infamous Dennis Rader when the serial killer sent letters to KAKE-TV, connecting himself to some of the 10 murders he committed more than three decades earlier.

Jesse graduated from Wichita State University’s Elliott School of Communication. His appreciation for journalism developed in elementary school, when he published a weekly newspaper for his neighbors.
