At what moment did you realize you wanted to become a journalist (videographer, meteorologist, sports reporter, etc.)? And if there wasn't a specific point in time, what was the motivating factor?

I was driving down I-5 in LA when I heard on the radio that DJ Rick Dees just signed a 5 year, 5 million dollar contract to talk on the radio for 4 hours a day. I immediately became interested in broadcasting.

When you really want to relax and let your hair down in Lawrence, where do you go and what do you do?

Well, with the hair I have left, I like to go bird watching.

What comes to your mind as the most memorable local story you've covered?

It was in April of 93, when the great Spitfest took place. It was an attempt to help our Jayhawk men's basketball team advance to the Final Four. Oh the memories...

If you couldn't be a reporter, what occupation would you want to try?

Las Vegas lounge singer. I would't work the main room, but one of the side rooms...a little piano bar. Two shows a night, 8 and 11pm. Party all night, wake up at noon, get in 18 holes, dinner and then the shows...

Which two people do you admire most? One should be someone you know. The other, someone you've never met.

The one I know, or knew, my grandfather. He is my hero. He always had a smile on his face and a song in his heart.

I would love to meet Ben Hogan. The perfect golf swing...*sigh

If you were stranded on a desert island with only one song to listen to and one book to read for the duration, what would they be?

Frank Sinatra's "My Way" and I would read "Who moved my cheese?", check it out...

If they were going to execute you tomorrow, rightly or wrongly, what would your last meal consist of?

An all-you-can-eat mexican food buffet.
