We continue our prep football previews with another team that took an undefeated record into the post-season, only to lose in the state semifinals. With their top tailback and wide eceiver returning, the Eudora Cardinals hope to take the next step in 2007.

The 2006 season was one to remember for the Free State High football team. After going a perfect 9-0 in the regular season, the Firebirds went on to win the first playoff games in school history. Will this year's squad be able to follow those big shoes?

For the first time in nearly half a decade, the Lawrence Raiders did not bring home an American Legion State title, but that doesn't erase the fine season Shaun Edmondson's squad had.

Last season, the Kansas Football team's record could have been 10-2. That is if the Jayhawks colud have held on to a 4th quarter lead. Four times in 2006, KU was on top heading into the final frame before blowing it.

At Haskell Indian Nations University, fall camp is just beginning. Today the team checked out equipment and held their first team meal of the season. After dinner it was quickly into the film room to try and improve from last year's 2-9 season.

One year ago, KU shortstop Ritchie Price was selected in the 18th round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the New York Mets. Just one year removed from the Hill, Price's playing days are now over.

Some former Royals were in Lawrence Saturday for the annual kids clinic. Over 100 kids came to Arrocha Ballpark Saturday morning on the KU campus for the event.

The boys of summer played on as KU coach Ritch Price hosted the Jayhawk All-Star Baseball Camp. Over 200 kids age 10 to 18 came to campus this weekend for the three day event.

Last night, former KU guard Julian Wright was the lucky 13th player selected in the 2007 NBA Draft by the New Orleans Hornets. Today, the Noodle arrived at his new home. Wright went to the New Orleans YMCA in a limo and was greeted by dozens of fans and even a brass band outside the gymnasium. Inside, more fans greeted their newest player.

Darrell Arthur continued tryouts for the under-19 USA basketball squad in his hometown of Dallas, Texas. The 6-9 sophomore, along with 17 other players, is in the midst of three days of tryouts before the final roster is trimmed down. The players who make the team will head to Serbia starting July 12 for the World Championships.

Three weeks ago, Brandon Rush was ready to strut his stuff at the NBA pre-draft camp in Orlando. But after suffering a torn ACL in a pick-up game in Kansas City, Rush decided to return to Mount Oread for his junior season. Now, the easy part, surgery, is over and the long road of rehab begins.

What you won't see is how the Firebirds flew through sub-state, eventually taking home third place at the State Tournament. Hundreds of cyclists took to the streets in downtown Lawrence for the third and final day of the National Collegiate Cycling Championships. In the division one men's race, Colorado State's Phil Mann took top honors. Mann is a 2002 graduate of Shawnee Mission East. Stanford took the D-1 overall team title with Western Washington University winning the D-2 title.
