TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — A three-member panel turned back an objection raised by a Wichita engineer that President Barack Obama is ineligible to be on the 2012 Kansas ballot. Dave Shultz on Monday asked that the State Objections Board compel Obama to produce a valid birth certificate to prove that he meets the citizenship requirements to be on the ballot. The board — Secretary of State Kris Kobach, Attorney General Derek Schmidt and Caleb Stegall representing the lieutenant governor — voted to deny his objection. They say because Obama hasn't filed paperwork to be on the 2012 ballot the board lacks jurisdiction to question his eligibility. Shultz made his claim relying on his own investigations and information he gleaned from the Internet. No one from the Obama campaign attended the hearing.
