LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — State Attorney General Derek Schmidt is heading back to law school this week to give an address at the University of Kansas. The Republican attorney general will give a free public lecture, which he's billing as a conversation, at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in Green Hall on the Lawrence campus. The appearance is sponsored by the law school's student chapter of the Federalist Society. Schmidt was elected attorney general last November after serving 10 years in the Kansas Senate, including six as majority leader. He holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Kansas and is currently pursuing a doctor of juridical science degree at the university's law school. He earned his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
