GOP ticket criticizes Kansas rep.'s nude plunge

By The Associated Press on August 21, 2012

A freshman Kansas congressman has apologized repeatedly for taking a nude plunge in the Sea of Galilee during a fact-finding trip to Israel.

Republican Kevin Yoder said Monday that he was in the water for only about 10 seconds. But he's been getting nonstop criticism for the incident.

GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney called it reprehensible. And Romney's running mate, Congressman Paul Ryan, said it was unbecoming.

Yoder's seat probably is safe, however, because the Democrats aren't running any candidate against him.

The Sea of Galilee is a holy site for many Christians because the Bible says Jesus walked on water there.
