Wow Internet, Cable & Phone has completed its acquisition of Knology, Inc., making it the ninth largest cable operator in the country, Wow announced Tuesday.
“We’re pleased to have completed this transaction so expeditiously and are excited to operate together as a combined entity,” said Colleen Abdoulah, Wow chief executive officer. “We have the people, network, and operating infrastructure to ensure sustained success.”
The $1.5 billion acquisition was first announced in April. Shareholders approved the merger June 26, and Wow paid $19.75 per share.
The acquisition will broaden the company’s geographic reach. Wow operates in Michigan, Illinois and Indiana, while Knology serves the Southeastern and Midwestern U.S. The combined company's products and services are available to more than 2.8 million homes in 13 states.
Cathy Kuo, chief marketing officer, said subscribers will notice no immediate changes in service. Also, it will take awhile for the company to change branding from Knology to Wow.
Kuo said Wow will continue to support subscribers with sunflower.com e-mail addresses.
6News Lawrence is a division of the company.
