Strong competitors take it to the next level

By Theo Hayes on September 16, 2011

LAWRENCE - The 3rd annual Next Level Games will take place at 7th and Kentucky in Lawrence on Saturday.

The competition is a friendly test of strength, agility and speed. Competitors will pull a half ton truck, complete in a farmers walk where they’ll carry 180 pounds through a course, flip a tractor tire, and perform the prowler challenge. In the past the sport has drawn a lot of spectators. Organizers say the games are a good way to show the public another aspect of physical fitness.

“I really wanted to build a completion that was more geared toward people that lift weights and work on speed and agility training rather long distance cycling, or running, you know you get a lot of that but nothing like this,” said Laura Richards, the co-owner of Next Level Sports & Fitness.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. and it cost $30.00 for students and $50.00 for adults. Food vendors will be on hand for spectators.
