Some folks headed to the Lawrence City pool only to discover it was closed on Labor Day weekend.
“A little disappointed that it’s closed but fortunately we have some back up plans so we can still go swimming,” says Jay Sarthy, who was visiting from out of town. His backup plan was the Lawrence Athletic Club or the indoor pool.
Jen Eakin was also surprised to hear the pool was closed.
“I don’t think it makes sense because I would think this would be one of the busiest…like the last hurrah,” said Eakin.
Eakin joined many local residents who headed out to Clinton Lake. She and her family spend every weekend they can on the water.
“My husband loves to be out on the boat. It’s one of his hobbies so we just try to come out and have family time,” says Eakin.
It was a busy day on the lake. Clinton Lake Park Manager Jerry Schecher says the rainy weekend brought numerous boaters this Labor Day. He says the traffic on the lake continues well into the evening. As the boating weather starts to wrap up, the campers come out when the temperatures start dropping.
