Tonight, the Lawrence police are asking for the community's help identifying a suspect in an armed disturbance at a grocery store parking lot.
Authorities are searching for the suspect and the victim in an armed incident that occurred at the Hy-Vee parking lot off Clinton Parkway.
At about 12 this afternoon, officers responded to a call of an armed disturbance between two individuals.
The incident occurred on the East side of the Hy-Vee parking lot off the 3500 block of Clinton Parkway.
Authorities believe two men were in a heated argument, when the suspect pulled what appeared to be a shotgun from his bag.
He then, pointed the gun at the victim's head. Shortly after, calls to the police department began coming in.
Now the police are asking for your help finding both individuals.
Lawrence Police Sergeant Trent McKinley believes witnesses who saw the most, were shoppers trying to flee quickly.
“Anybody who witnessed the incident who may have left for fear of their own safety. It's certainly understandable that people may quickly leave the area, but those individuals may help us piece some of this stuff together,” he said.
The suspect fled the scene in a beige, four door Pontiac. He was last seen going westbound on Clinton Parkway.
Witnesses describe the suspect as a taller black male wearing dark clothing. There is no clear description of the victim. Because the victim also left quickly, he is believed to be uninjured.
"Of course, if the victim would come forward and give us the information that occurred during the incident, we would appreciate that as well,” McKinley said.
If you do have any information, you are urged to call 865-TIPS.
