Man's hobby puts him at odds with dozens of Lawrence neighbors

One local man's hobby has put him at odds with dozens of his neighbors.

Allan Cobb takes target practice in his backyard once a week, but 31 of his neighbors are concerned his targets are in direct line of residential property.

A petition was circulated this week to have Cobb's Douglas County home annexed into the city.

The move would make it illegal for the man to discharge a firearm within city limits.

Cobb said no one has ever come to his door to complain, until now.

"I don't believe I'm putting anyone in danger, it's just the complaints about what I do," Cobb said.

The city commission will look at the issue at its meeting next week.

Cobb has written a letter to the city telling them he will stop shooting permanently if his property is not annexed.
