Around 3:45 a.m. Lawrence police officers responded to a burglary call at a residence just south of the KU campus. Police say a 24-year-old woman who was asleep inside woke up to find a naked man in her bed attempting to assault her.
Officers setup a perimiter around the area but were unable to locate the suspect. That's when the department decided to try a new surveillance tactic to track down the man.
About three hours later police say the man struck again, this time at the house right next door to his first victim.
Fortunately the woman's husband was in a nearby bedroom. He heard his wife screaming and confronted the suspect and hitting him with a pan.
