The Lawrence Humane Society has selected Dori Villalon as the new executive director.
The shelter says Villalon will start immediately. Villalon will work on a contractual basis. After a 6-month trial period, the Board of Directors will have the option of extending a long-term offer to Villalon.
Villalon has served as Vice President of Animal Protection for the American Humane Association. She has also held principle positions with the San Francisco SPCA, Sonoma County Animal Control and the Cleveland Animal Protective League.
The humane society's previous director, Midge Grinstead, resigned earlier this year.
