Lawrence - Eight brands of anti-entrapment drain covers have been recalled, and the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department says area pools may be affected.
The department is working to contact local pool and spa operators. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) determined the covers were incorrectly rated to handle water flow created by pump suction. This can result in entrapment of users.
Anyone who finds that their pool or spa has one of the recalled covers should immediately contact the manufacturer for a replacement. You can find out more on the Health Department's website at www.ldchealth.org. The CPSC also has a recall hotline at (800) 638-2772.
