City moving forward with plans for new rec center
The uncertainty surrounding the City's desire to continue a partnership with KU to build a west Lawrence rec center is gone.
On Tuesday commissioners approved a request to annex the northeast corner of 6th Street and K10. The 110 acres are in line to become the future home of KU's softball and soccer fields as well as a new track and field stadium.
Tuesday's action also ensures that a new west Lawrence rec center remains a distinct possibility.
