City presents more details surrounding west Lawrence rec center

By 6News Staff on July 23, 2012

On Monday city officials met with the Lawrence public to present more details surrounding a potential west Lawrence rec center. The current designs include a city owned and operated rec center next to a soccer field and track and field stadium that will be operated by KU.

The city estimates the sports village will cost $1.2 million per year for the next 20 years. That money will come from a special 1994 sales tax.

The issue will be discussed during the August 7 city commission meeting.
