After years of meetings and rallying from the community, the state is getting ready to start installing cable median barriers on K-10.
The cable barriers will be installed on a 4.3 mile stretch of road in Douglas and Johnson Counties. It will be located on the stretch of K-10 from just west of the Church Street interchange in Eudora in Douglas County, and in Johnson County it will be installed on either side of the K-7 interchange.
The project is expected to begin on Monday, August 13. The shoulders along both sides of the K-10 medians will be closed during this time. The project is expected to be finished by mid-December.
Several deadly accidents, including one that killed a five year-old Eudora boy, have prompted the community to demand the cable media barriers on K-10.
