City releases price recommendations for new roll-out trash cart program
On Thursday city staff released their price structure recommendations for the new roll-out trash cart program.
Residents who receive a 65 gallon cart will continue to pay the standard $14.94 per month rate. Those residents already using the 65 gallon cart will save $1.50 per month. Residents who receive a 90 gallon cart will have to pay $1 more, resulting in a $15.94 monthly rate. If an individual already uses a 90 gallon cart they will save $1 per month.
Residents who have less waste and only need a 35 gallon cart will pay a monthly rate of $14.44. The rate is 50 cents less than the standard rate. The city was hesitant about offering a discount for the smaller cart out of fears that people would underestimate their waste production to save money.
The City Commission is expected to discuss the price structure at it's meeting on August 14.
