Abused animals in need of adoption

LAWRENCE - Several neglected and malnourished dogs have arrived at the Lawrence Humane Society. They were among more than 50 dogs and cats taken from a Southeast Kansas dog breeder. The Humane Society is now looking to find new homes for the dogs, but first it needs the community's help to nurse them back to health.

The dogs were riddled with ticks and fleas, malnourished, and had very little human contact. The good news is that Lawrence Humane Society vet Dr. Jennifer Stone believes all the dogs will be able to find new homes, but rehabilitation can take a while.

Some of the dog breeds include terrier, beagle, and collie mixes. To contact the Lawrence Human Society, call 843-6835 or email info@lawrencehumane.org.
