KU Cancer Center designation should have local impact
Kansas University officials say Thursday's announcement that the KU Cancer Center has been designated as a National Cancer Institute cancer center will have an impact on the university's Lawrence campus.
KU Center for Research president Steve Warren says the KU School of Pharmacy as well as the engineering school will benefit from more research dollars.
The designation is also another selling point for the university as it looks to recruit the brightest minds in the country.
