Fire displaces three west Lawrence families
Lawrence firefighters were called to the Peppertree Apartments just before 6 p.m. Tuesday after a resident reported seeing smoke billowing from a fourplex. When crews arrived on the scene they encountered heavy flames and smoke inside the building.
No one was injured in the blaze and the Douglas County chapter of the American Red Cross is providing food, clothing, and shelter for three Lawrence families displaced by the fire.
Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
