A Basehor man admits to trying to hire a hit-man to kill his wife.

Prosecutors say Lee Smith agreed to pay a man $1,800 to murder his wife.

He plead guilty to the crime yesterday.

But, prosecutors say the man was a confidential law enforcement informant and Smith's wife was never in danger.

The man faces up to ten years in federal prison and a quarter of a million dollar fine.
