Truck hits van just east of town

Tonganoxie A Tonganoxie man has been identified as the person who was killed Thursday night in a collision on U.S. Highway 24-40 just east of the city limits.
The Kansas Highway Patrol identified the victim as William Washington Jr., 37. The accident occurred about 7:30 p.m.
Washington was driving a 1996 Ford Windstar van north on 206th Street and collided with a semitrailer that was headed east on the highway, according to the Patrol report. The truck’s driver, Ervin McKibben, 57, Mayetta, was not injured.
Washington failed to yield the right of way to the truck, the Patrol report said.
