US 24-59 north to Oskaloosa

A Fowler, Colo., man was hospitalized after he lost control of his tractor-trailer shortly after 6:30 this morning.

Rodney L. Hughes was driving west on U.S. Highway 24-59, north of Lawrence, in Jefferson County when he went around a curve and lost control of the truck, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The truck overturned on its side just east of where U.S. 59 turns north toward Oskaloosa.

A crane was taken to the accident site to help remove cargo from the truck, and traffic was re-routed around the accident site.

Hughes was treated and released at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, according to an LMH spokeswoman.
