State transportation officials put the brakes on plans to increase the speed limit on a busy stretch of road in southern Douglas County. K-DOT says the delay in upping the speeds on Highway 56 from 55 to 60 will allow time for more discussion about the potential safety impacts to schools located along the road.

Assistant City Manager Debbie van Saun will make the move to Associate Athletics Director and Senior Women's Administrator. Van Saun has worked for the city for nearly 30 years, starting in the Utilities Department in 1979, and moving to her current post seven years ago.

Corliss also is recommending that fees for the city swimming pool be increased to a flat $4 per person rate regardless of age.
