Local motel robbed; clerk injured

Man wore mask, black clothing

An armed, masked man dressed in black robbed Econo Lodge, 2222 W. Sixth St. Tuesday night, according to Lawrence Police.

A woman clerk suffered minor injuries in the robbery and was transported by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was treated and released and returned to work, a police spokeswoman said. No other details about her injuries were available this morning.

Police were called to the motel at 9:55 p.m. after the suspect entered the north lobby door. He displayed a black handgun and took and undetermined amount of money. He left the motel and has not been found.

The suspect was wearing fitted pants, a long-sleeved shirt and gloves, all black. He also wore a black ski mask.
