Investigation continues into Perry Lake death

Monday, August 27, 2007

Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks officers are still looking into a fatal boating accident that happened Saturday evening at Perry Lake in Jefferson County.

The agency has identified 50-year-old Rafael Estrada, of Topeka, as the man killed on the lake’s upper Rock Creek arm.

Officers said a preliminary investigation determined Estrada was riding a personal water craft that turned in front of a boat. The boat then struck the craft.

An accident reconstruction team is still investigating, and the report may not be issued for several days, said Kevin Defisher, the regional boating officer for northeastern Kansas.
