Three people were taken to the hospital this morning after a two-vehicle wreck southeast of Lawrence at the intersection of county roads 458 and 1057.

Lt. Kari Wempe, a Douglas County Sheriff spokeswoman, said at 8:30 a.m. Sione Lenati, 65, Parsons, drove a GMC vehicle east on County Road 458, and he failed to stop at the stop sign in the intersection.

The GMC vehicle then had a collision with a northbound Volkswagen, driven by Nancy A. Richards, 47, Baldwin City.

Both Lenati and Richards were taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Dean Jones, 43, Parsons, a passenger in the GMC, was also taken there. Wempe said their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

LMH spokeswoman Belinda Rehmer said this afternoon all three people have been treated and released.

Officers were still investigating the accident.
