Fire errupts at Lawrence motel

Flames began shooting from the office of the 'Westminster Inn' at 2525 W. 6th St., Central Lawrence around 6:30 p.m. Firefighters quickly went door-to-door making sure all motel guests were evacuated. The fire stalled traffic on 6th St. as hoses stretched across the busy road. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Along with snow flurries and freezing wind, this weather front has left many area roads very icy and dangerous. Conditions are expected to only get colder in the next few days.
