Lawrence City Commissioners have at leave five sites to choose from as they consider where to expand the public library. The first proposal would build on the empty lots north of the Lawrence Arts Center on the 900 block of New Hampshire Street.

KU golfer to participate in national championships

Gas tanks removed at local gas station

Gasoline tanks dug out and removed Monday at one gas station, after a leak sparked a house fire in old west Lawrence. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment required the tanks at the Presto Station at 9th and Louisiana be pulled and disposed of. The station has not been allowed to sell fuel since fire destroyed a home at 838 Louisiana last month.

Lawrence liquor store owners plea for licence reinstatement

The owners of two Lawrence liquor stores who had their licenses revoked last year make their case for reinstatement Monday. Jill and Dan Blomgren, who own the city's two Cork and Barrel liquor stores, said Monday in court a mix-up on a license application led to all the problems.

Graduation day is two weeks away, but this year will be more hectic than ever. Lawrence and Free State High Schools are sending off their seniors the same day as KU. Springhill Suites opened lines last June for reservations on graduation weekend, and were booked less than 30 minutes later.
