900 block of E 1900 Road

Lawrence police said they were continuing to gather details today about a Tuesday night car chase that began in East Lawrence, ended in rural Douglas County and resulted in two people being arrested.

The chase began about 10:30 p.m., when an officer attempted to stop a car in East Lawrence when a check on the car's license tag indicated the car might have been stolen in Lee's Summit, Mo., according to police.

Officers said they used spikes to flatten the car’s tires and bring it to a stop in the 900 section of East 1900 Road, which is about nine miles southeast of Lawrence.

A Leavenworth man and an Edgerton woman attempted to run from the disabled car but were caught by police and taken to the Douglas County Jail, officers said.

Reports were still being compiled Wednesday and not all details were available.
