Ominous-looking clouds covered Lawrence through much of the morning and into mid-afternoon. But thunderstorms stayed off to the south of the city, leaving a warm but dry afternoon forecast.
"We'll have decreasing clouds and temperatures warming up in the low 80s," said Matt Sayers, 6News meteorologist. "We're not going to get any rain."
Sayers said the main storm system stayed to the south and southwest of Lawrence.
"Tonight it will be staying dry, " he said. "There are chances for storms starting tomorrow afternoon and evening.
Tonight's low will reach 60 by early Wednesday morning.
Wednesday's high will reach 76, with mostly cloudy skies and a chance for a late thunderstorm late Wednesday into Thursday morning.
At 2:15 p.m. , the temperature was 78, with 4 to 10 mph winds from the east.
Thursday's morning low will be 55, with the high climbing to 75 Thursday afternoon, under partly cloudy skies.
