"It may be a good night to get together with family and friends and do a little barbecuing," says Tim Reith, 6News meteorologist.
"Mostly sunny skies are pushing their way into the Lawrence area," Reith said. "We look to remain dry as we go through the day today."
The high temperatures this afternoon throughout the Lawrence area will be in the low 80s, which is above the average high for this date of 78 degrees.
. At 8 a.m., the temperature was 63 degrees, with calm winds and partly cloudy skies. Today's high is expected to climb to 85, with partly cloudy skies. Winds will be from the east, between 8 and 12 mph.
Overnight the temperature will drop to a low of 59 by early Tuesday morning. Tuesday's high will climb to 81, with some clouds moving in during the afternoon from the northwest, bringing the possibility of some wet weather, Reith said.
"We will have a chance for a late-day thunderstorm (on Tuesday)," he said. The best chance for rain will be Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning, he said. There's also a chance for thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon, he said.
Wednesday's morning low will be 56 degrees, with the high climbing to 79.
