Isolated thunderstorms expected through evening

Thursday, March 24, 2005

Take your umbrella along today. There's a chance for isolated showers throughout the afternoon and into the evening, said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

Lawrence received about 0.14 of an inch of precipitation from this morning's rain. At 2 p.m., the temperature was 42 degrees, with an east 8- to 16-mph wind making the wind chill 37 degrees.

"Today we could see isolated afternoon thunderstorms," Schack said. Today's high will be 50. Isolated storms are also in the forecast tonight, she said.

Overnight the temperature will drop to 36 by early Friday morning, with northeast winds 8 to 15 mph.

"We will keep the forecast dry as we head toward the weekend," Schack said.

Friday will be cloudy, with the afternoon high reaching 47, with northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday's morning low will be 33, with the high reaching 51 under partly cloudy skies.
