Pursuit leads to arrest

Lawrence police have arrested a man at The Woods apartment complex, 630 Michigan St., who a bystander reported had jumped out of a moving police car.

Police spokesman Sgt. Dan Ward was checking on the incident, and could not verify that report, but construction workers at the McDonald’s restaurant on Sixth Street said they saw a man in handcuffs run through a parking lot and into the apartment complex after 2 p.m. Several police units surrounded the complex as officers questioned residents. The man was found and apprehended about 2:30 p.m.
