Tuesday, January 25, 2005

Lawrence gets another vacation from cold weather today, with temperatures climbing into the upper 50s by this afternoon.

"Enjoy it, because tomorrow a cold front slides through," said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

As of 7:15 a.m. today, the temperature was 26, with calm winds and sunny skies. By noon, the temperature was to reach 50 and clouds were expected to start moving in this afternoon, with southwesterly to westerly 5-8 mph winds. Today's high will top out at 59 degrees by late afternoon, Schack said.

"Tomorrow, some cooler air starts to arrive," she said. Overnight, the low will drop to 31 Wednesday morning and the high will climb to 43 by Wednesday afternoon, with northerly winds 8-12 mph.

More clouds are expected on Thursday, with the morning low starting at 23 and the high climbing to 37 by Thursday afternoon.

The clouds might bring a wintry mix of precipitation by Friday night, Schack said.
