Coach Allen first mentioned that he wanted a new basketball arena in the 1920's. The Jayhawks had been playing in Hoch Auditorium, but Allen was not fond of the old "House of Horrors." When Kansas State was given money for a new arena, Allen was fired up to go direclty to the state legislature.
