Mostly cloudy skies expected

Tuesday, February 22, 2005

If you ventured outside early this afternoon you might have seen it -- a brief glimpse or two of sunshine. However, mostly cloudy conditions are in the forecast through Wednesday, says Matt Sayers, 6News meteorologist.

"We've had just a few breaks in the clouds out there, but that's all we're going to expect. It's going to stay mostly cloudy," Sayers said this afternoon.

At 2:45 p.m., Lawrence's temperature was 44, with a northeast 7-mph wind making the wind chill 41. Today's high is expected to top out at 45.

Overnight, the low drops to 30 by early Wednesday morning, climbing to a high of only 38 for the day, Sayers said.

Lawrence might pick up a little bit of precipitation during the day on Wednesday. The National Weather Service is predicting a chance for snow, mixing with rain after noon, under mostly cloudy skies and a high of 38. The chance for precipitation is 30 percent.

On Wednesday night, there's a 20 percent chance of rain and snow mixed before midnight, then a chance of snow early Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Thursday's morning low will be 26, with the high reaching 42 under partly cloudy skies.
