Thursday, December 22, 2005

If you like snow, get outside and enjoy it this morning.

"Most of the snow will be gone by the end of the day. What's left will be gone tomorrow," said Tim Reith, 6News meteorologist. "I think we're going to see a beautiful day across northeast Kansas."

Skies were mostly sunny this morning. At 8:15 a.m. today, the temperature was 31 degrees and winds were from the south-southeast at 7 mph, putting the windchill factor at 24 degrees. The humidity was 85 percent.

Reith said there might be a few slick spots this morning on the roadways, as some of the melted snow refroze overnight.

Skies will be mostly sunny through the morning, with some high clouds rolling in during the afternoon, Reith said..Winds will be out of the southwest at 5-10 mph. Temperature will climb to a high of 54 degrees this afternoon, he said. The average high for this date is 43 degrees.

Overnight, the low will drop to 33 degrees by early Friday morning. Friday's afternoon high will climb to 57 degrees, with winds from the southwest at 8 to 12 mph, Reith said.

Friday night brings a slight chance for rain.

"That might even mix with some light snow on Saturday morning," Reith said. The National Weather Service put the chance for rain/snow at 40 percent Friday night and 30 percent Saturday morning.

"Any of the rainfall mixed with snow should be coming to an end by noon on Saturday," Reith said.

Saturday's morning low will be 33 degrees with Saturday's high reaching 41 degrees.

The forecast for Sunday, Christmas Day, will be 22 degrees in the morning climbing to 47 degrees by Sunday afternoon, Reith said
