A Lawrence man serving a life sentence for murdering his wife signs away his parental rights to his two children. In a closed hearing in Douglas County district court this week, longtime family friends of the Millers became the permanent legal guardians to 12-year-old Matthew and 15-year-old Melodie Miller.
