Art a la Carte

Art enthusiasts will want to check out the Downtown Friday Gallery Walk. The self-guided tour of downtown art venues runs from 7 to 9 this evening and features, among other artists, the watercolor landscapes of Mark Mohr at Fields Gallery.

The University Dance Company presents it spring concert this evening at the Lied Center. In addition to nubmers choreographed by K-U faculty and staff, the program features a fast-paced romp by New York choreographer Kate Skarpetowska set to Squirrel Nut Zippers music, and a rarely seen Jose Limon solo danced by faculty member Patrick Suzeau. The show starts at 7:30.

When the swords start flying in the Seem-To-Be Player's production of "Treasure Island," it's hard to tell who's having more fun: 12-year-old Zach Silvers or his grown-up co-stars. The Wakarusa Valley School

sixth-grader plays youthful hero Jim Hawkins in the adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's tale of swashbuckling treasure seekers. He's joined by an all-star adult cast for the show, which plays at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Lawrence Arts Center.
