The large green monster with the serious attitude problem is back ... and, thankfully, it's not the Hulk.

Three years after the original "Shrek" raked in $270 million at the box-office and won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature, "Shrek 2" presents its zany splicing of pop-culture references and storybook imagery. This time, the ogre and his princess bride must meet her royal family ... and it doesn't go well.

Since "Shrek 2" opens on a record number of theaters, rival studios have opted to not release anything this week to compete against it. But thankfully, the local art house comes through with "Monsieur Ibrahim." Set in the 1960s, the sentimental story concerns a 13-year-old Parisian boy who forms an unlikely friendship with a Turkish shopkeeper, played by the eternally charismatic Omar Sharif.
