The term hot ticket will take on a double meaning for those with a pass to the speech by former President Clinton this afternoon in the un-air conditioned Allen Fieldhouse.
"The high temperature today is just shy of the 90-degree mark. We'll get up to 89," said Matt Jacobs, 6News meteorologist. He said the temperature will reach 83 by noon. The average high for this time of year is 78.
"We'll have windy conditions through the weekend," Jacobs said. South to southwest winds 20 to 30 mph were expected through this afternoon, with gusts up to 35 mph were expected through the evening.
Saturday's morning low will drop to 70, with another warm and windy day expected. The high for Saturday will reach 90, with wind gusts reaching up to 30 mph.
"It's definitely feeling like summer," Jacobs said.
Jacobs said storms are expected to develop late in the day on Saturday. He predicted a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9 p.m. Saturday, under partly cloudy skies.
Sunday's morning low will be 70, with the high expected to top out at 89, with a westerly wind about 15 mph.
Jacobs said the threat of thunderstorms could be over before Kansas University's commencement exercises on Sunday afternoon. He predicted that the possibility of rain in the Lawrence area would be ending by 9 a.m. Sunday. The high is expected to be 89.
