Police arrest suspect in late-night shooting

Wednesday, December 22, 2004

Police have a 19-year-old man in custody in connection with a shooting Tuesday night at Boardwalk Apartments, 524 Frontier Rd.

The shooting happened about 11:20 p.m. after an altercation in the parking lot between two groups of people who didn't know each other, said Sgt. Dan Ward, a Lawrence Police spokesman.

One woman was taken to the hospital after being shot twice in the leg; another man suffered minor injuries to his back. Ward would not elaborate on the nature of the argument that led to the shooting. Police arrested the suspect minutes later in a traffic stop on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder.
