The fourth day of the preliminary hearing for a Kansas State University professor charged with first-degree murder started this morning with the defense trying to discredit the testimony of one of the state's witnesses.
Defense attorney Bob Eye asked the court to strike the testimony of the Riley County police detective who analyzed Tom Murray's body language during police interrogations.
Judge Robert Fairchild said the testimony will be admitted in determining if there is probable cause for Murray to stand trial for the murder of his ex-wife.
Forty-year-old Carmin Ross' body was found Nov. 14, 2003, inside a house she rented in the Lakeview area northwest of Lawrence.
A Kansas Bureau of Investigation lab director -- an expert in blood stain analysis -- also took the stand this morning, testifying he examined more than 90 photographs of blood spatterings taken at the crime scene.
The KBI lab director said the evidence shows the victim struggled with her attacker before her death.
