I'm Jon Niccum entertainment editor for the Journal-World.
Giant slithering serpents munch on an attractive cast of unknowns in "Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid." The horror-adventure never tries to shed its B-movie skin, which results in mindless entertainment and plenty of laughs - both intentional and the other kind.
Also opening in area theaters is the Chinese-language film "Hero," an acclaimed mix of cinematic imagery and martial arts. Jet Li plays a nameless warrior who thwarts three deadly assassins on a quest to murder a powerful warlord.
Then there is "SuperBabies: Baby Geniuses 2" -- a sequel to one of the worst movies ever made. AND it stars Scott Baio.
And finally at the art house is "Garden State," written and directed by "Scrubs" star Zach Braff. He portrays a wannabe L.A. actor who returns to Jersey for a funeral in this coming-of-age comedy.
And speaking of being a super baby, I'm Jon Niccum with Screen Scene.
