Art a la carte

Friday, April 30, 2004

The 2004 Lawrence Poetry Series ends tonight - the final Friday of National Poetry Month. The series has featured area poets reading their work each Friday in April at the Lawrence Arts Center. On tonight's bill are Mickey Cesar, Beth Dorsey and Matthew Porubsky. The reading starts at 7.

Kansas University Theatre tonight opens its final production of the 2003-2004 season. The troupe takes on "George Dandin," Moliere's 17th-century farce about social class and marital infidelity. The show runs this weekend and next at the Inge Theatre.

And if the rain clears out, count on more than 100 area and regional artists to flood South Park on Sunday for the 43rd annual Art in the Park. Artists will sell fine arts and crafts of every ilk from 10 to 6. Live music will drift from the gazebo, and food vendors will line Massachusetts Street. In case of rain, the event will be May 9.
